New School, New Room, New Theme!

Wow!  There are a lot of new things so far this year for me!  I moved to a different building, set up a new room and changed my classroom theme!

I moved to a different building in my district to take a half day kindergarten position.  Yes, we still have half day!!  I only have a morning class, so I am part time!  What will I do with all my free time?  I plan on spending  more time with my family.  This will be the last year we are all under one roof!  That sounds so strange to write out!  My oldest will be heading off to college next fall.  Time just goes so fast, so I hope to slow down a bit this year and enjoy my family to the fullest!

So over the summer I worked on setting up my new room with a lot of help from family and friends!  I am really happy at how it turned out!  I am wild about my new monster theme! Take a look!

Fun Thursday!

Today we had a Fun Thursday because we will not have school tomorrow.  I had the kids to some Michelangelo art, inspired from a post on http://sempreclarisse.blogspot.com.  The kids had a great time coloring on the bottom of the table while laying on the floor.  What a fun way to end the week and celebrate making good choices.  I think we will be doing this one again before the end of the year.

Music Program

We recently had our music programs and the kids did a super job singing and playing instruments.  Mrs. Emery did a super job! The kids had a blast!  Here are a few of the photos from our program.

100's Day!

The last week of January sure was a busy one!  We kicked the week off with our 100's day celebration on Monday.  We did a lot of 100's day activities.  We counted to 100 by ones and tens, completed some counting to 100 worksheets, made a 100's day headband and a 100 fruit loop necklace, painted 100 gum balls add and ate a 100's day snack.  The kids sure had a blast!  Here are some pictures of us celebrating our 100th day of Kindergarten!

We ended the week learning about our great state Kansas!  I'll be posting about that soon!

Mitten Write The Room Center

The kids are loving the write the room center.  Each week we have a write the room center.  Last week we did the mitten write the room center.  I took mitten clipart and put a picture of a CVC word on each mitten.  Before the week I hid the mitten cards around the room.  I try to hid some cards in easy to find spots and others are a little harder to find.  Like the one I hid on our snow mobile hanging in our room.  When the students come to the center they get a clipboard, worksheet and glasses (if they want).  They look so cute when they wear the glasses!  The students then walk around the room in search of the mittens.  When they find a mitten they say the CVC word and sound it out.  Then they write the CVC word on their worksheet.  The kids love searching the room for the mittens.

Tobey The Hamster

For Fun Friday last week I brought in my daughter's hamster.  He was a big hit!  The kids loved him!  It's just so awesome how one tiny creature can make so many happy children!  Sorry parents if your child wants a hamster now.  I am sure I will bring him again!  So until next time!!
